With the founded of Muş Alparslan University, the Department of Turkish Language and Literature was founded within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and started to admit students with 40 quotas in the 2011-2012 academic year. Along with the student admission, there have been developments in the number and quality of faculty members of the department. Currently, there are 16 lecturers in the department, including 13 lecturers and 3 research assistants.
